Join Illawarra’s vibrant artistic community this March as they celebrate International Women’s Day at the 2025 art exhibition at Project Contemporary Artspace. Showcasing the work of 35 local women artists, this year’s exhibition aligns with the UN theme ‘March Forward – For All Women and Girls', spotlighting creativity, resilience, and the ongoing fight for gender equality.

On display will be a range of media, from collage to sculpture, ceramics to digital art, with each piece reflecting the power and diversity of women’s voices. Exhibition Coordinator Sue Bessell explains, “This exhibition is not just about art, it’s about amplifying women’s stories and advocating for change.”
The exhibition opens on Saturday, 1st March, at 6pm with a celebration featuring music by Kachina and performance poetry by Kathleen Bleakly and Ann Martin. The event will be officially opened by local artist Greer Taylor. This is a free event, and all are welcome to experience the bold, inspiring work of Illawarra’s female creatives.
